About

Gile Hill is a new neighborhood in construction at the southern end of the Town of Hanover. The community will consist of 120 new apartments and condominiums in 12 buildings on a wooded 21-acre site. This beautiful tract of land was donated by the Town of Hanover following a Town Meeting vote in 2003 as a significant way to respond to the critical need for reasonably priced housing in the Upper Valley region. Gile Hill is an innovatively designed, environmentally sensitive and energy efficient community, close to downtown Hanover, the Centerra Business Park and the abutting Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. The first four buildings are scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2008 with the remaining buildings following later in the year and in 2009.

Gile Hill is being co-developed by Twin Pines Housing Trust, of White River Junction, Vermont (www.tphtrust.org) and the Hartland Group Community Developers and Consultants, of Burlington, Vermont (www.hartlandgroup.biz). Twin Pines is the principal affordable housing provider in the region. Its Executive Director, Bruce Pacht, is a Dartmouth College graduate, and 40 year resident of the Upper Valley. Bruce brings more than 30 years experience in nonprofit management and a long history of civic involvement. The Hartland Group specializes in creative, community-focused projects in Vermont and New Hampshire. The principals of the Hartland Group are Charles G. Lief and Miro Weinberger, who together have more than 40 years experience in the design, financing and marketing of complex housing and economic development projects.
